Visiting Rabbis Strengthen Judaism in India

July 29, 2008
From “Jew Town” to the backstreets of Bombay, two Chabad-Lubavitch rabbis have been spending their summer traversing places near and far in India to strengthen Judaism among local residents and expatriate Israelis. They’ve managed to take their camera along with them as they participate in the Rabbinical Student Visitation Program coordinated by Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch – the educational arm of Chabad-Lubavitch – and known colloquially as Roving Rabbis. School children run outside the Chabad House in the Colaba Market area of Bombay, India. Rabbis Eli Marcus and Menachem M. Gansbourg arrived in the country July 16 as part of the Roving Rabbis program. All told, hundreds of rabbinical students are visiting Jewish communities around the world that are not served by full-time Chabad-Lubavitch centers.
