Vietnam's year-old synagogue, the Chabad House of Vietnam, received its first Torah scroll, donated by Mayer and Tzilit Yakovsohn of Israel.
More than 60 people gathered to celebrate in a ceremony, accompanied by Chasidic singing and dancing. Located in Ho Chi Minh City, the Chabad center is the country's first synagogue, and is co-directed by Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Menachem and Racheli Hartman, originally from Israel.
The Jewish center serves more than 200 local Jews, and the thousands that travel through on business and vacation.
